Having one of your pictures appear on the front page of Black Country Today as part of our header is easy! Just follow these simple steps and your photo may be featured for a full month on Black Country Today.

1. Locate a high quality, horizontal photo that will work well in our header.
   Because of the unique size of the header, we can only use photos that will look good in that size. Vertical photos are out. Typically outdoor panoramas work best. Just look at the following examples to determine if one of your photos will work.
   
   
   
   This image is an excellent horizontal image. It represents the community very well and can be used. There is a focal point (the barge). The next image shows the area that we will crop to turn the image into a final header.
   
   
   
   Here is the final image that will appear in the masthead.
   
   
   
   Bad example:

   This photo is a bad example for several reasons. Not only does it not crop well (see below), it is also not a photo of the Black Country area. We love photos on our site from all over the world, this IS your site, after all. But for the header, we need to stick with photos related to Black Country. It wouldn't be much of a Black Country site if there was a picture of New York City splashed all over the top, would it?
   
   
   
   As you can see below, the finished version is nowhere near the quality of the first image.

   
   
   With that in mind, after you've located the photo(s) you want to submit, go to step 2.

2. Submit Your Photo
   Click on the header photo to upload your photos for consideration
3. Be patient.
   Remember, this is a competition. We change headers monthly and receive a lot of submissions. If your image doesn't appear in the header, try again next time.
4. Upload your photo to Spotted!
