Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy - LD50 and vCJD

Good Knowledge Is Good2Use

LD50 with respect to vCJD has to recognise that the effects are apparently cumulative.

With most toxic products the body would break them down and excrete them. So the lethal dose is that which is administered at one time.
There is no evidence of that the body can deal in such a way with prions.
Hence the definition is based upon the dose required over time to cause premature death.
